Moving Dad, a CoVID-19 story

Logline:

Nancy and her siblings move their father into assisted living in the middle of a global pandemic.

director’s statement:

One of the most powerful aspects of film is its ability to capture those little moments in life that we can relate to on a very human level. As my Grandpa has aged, I’ve felt the need to capture these moments with him more and more. Like many looking after their parents in 2020, my Mom Nancy had to make adjustments in her life to cater to his, including moving him to assisted living so he has more access to care. I felt like this was one of those human stories others could easily relate to—especially in the middle of a global pandemic.

This was the first film I ever filmed, edited, and shared. I shot this on my iPhone 11 pro, with a DJI Osmo Mobile 3 gimbal, and with no additional audio equipment (as you might be able to tell). I edited this by struggling through Davinci Resolve, and watching endless Youtube videos on how to use the software. Sharing this with my family, especially my Grandpa, made it all worth it. Moving Dad premiered virtually at the 2020 SacFilmChallenge Music and Film Festival.
