An Ode to the messy people

Here’s to the messy people. The people that desire a little too much and feel a little too deeply. Here’s to the artists, the entitled, the dreamers, the fuzzies, and even, the dreadful millennials...

I feel like a messy person leading a messy life more often than not; I’m never as organized as I want to be, I’m too tired most of the time, and my ambitions seem to come and go with the days. So I find an excuse to mask my apathy, then put on a TV show and label it as self-care—promising myself that I’ll try harder again tomorrow.

But what if I feel the same way tomorrow? What if my inspiration has finally ran its course?

“Maybe I need to quit my job and travel again...” I think to myself, knowing that’s not what I really need to do. What I really need to do is work through the doubt holding me back and conquer it until I get to a tomorrow that counts. A tomorrow full of vitality and inspiration. A productive, life-affirming tomorrow that I’ve strived for and fully deserve.

So here’s to the life-affirming tomorrow’s, for all the messy people out there. Here’s to the days that make us feel like we’re on the right path and the days when we can’t tell what’s up from what’s down. Here’s to the mornings where we get up early, make an ode to smile more and find inspiration where we can. And here’s to our friends who open up to us about their messy lives. Cause when it comes down to it, we’re all a little messy... I don’t think life would be as fun if we weren’t.
